Selected Case Study - Pursuit Coaching - Sydney Metro
Description. The win of a highly competitive global bid for the design & technical services of stations for a major new underground rail line in Sydney in 2017. It is the largest public transport infrastructure project in Australia.
Value of overall project. AUD $8.3 billion
Our client. A consortium of some of the world’s leading engineering and architecture firms - Mott MacDonald, Robert Bird Group, WT Partnership, Arcadis, Foster + Partners, Architectus and McKenzie Group Consulting.
Our services. Live Pursuit Consulting including facilitation of a Win Room, development of win messages and positioning, consortium branding, structuring of response document, and presentation coaching.
What we are proud of. The Artemis Partnership was able to unite a team of people from seven different organisations, and through workshops and coaching, mould them into a one team in the eyes of the client. A creative approach to branding was created by us and adopted by the team, and in several high intensive brief visits to Sydney, we helped develop a winning bid team and solution. Our client’s consortium was not the expected winner, as there was an incumbent consortium in place that had to be overcome, as well as other highly respected groups competing for the opportunity.
Paul Winfindale, Principal Engineer, (Mott MacDonald Sydney)
“Bids for complex infrastructure projects such as Sydney Metro, require people from multiple organisations and differing cultures to perform together in a team if they are to produce a winning bid. The Artemis Partnership herded the ‘cats’ and formed the ‘Metron’ team with a lightness of touch I have rarely seen in over thirty years in the industry.
In a very short period they led us through the maze of putting a winning bid together including win strategy, messaging, and positioning, all while steering us toward the finishing line.
The ‘win room’, where we pretty much lived for two weeks, was the creative hub of all our efforts and we could constantly refer to the key ideas that The Artemis Partnership had drawn out of us. ‘Metron’ became a living, breathing entity that we really believed in and I’m clear the Metron bid had an edge over the competition which I think is The Artemis Partnership's hallmark…”
Glenn Barton, Building Structures Director, (Arcadis Brisbane)
“Winning the Sydney Metro Project was a fantastic result for our team and can be directly attributed to the effort and insight that The Artemis Partnership brought to the team. During our bid preparation phase, they worked with the team to focus our energies and draw out the knowledge and ideas that gave us the winning edge. The ideas were ours that The Artemis Partnership was able to draw, using different techniques and exercises that had everyone engaged and contributing.
Personally, The Artemis Partnership helped me immensely with my preparation for the interview, both through the group sessions and one-on-one coaching. They walked us through the messages that we needed to land and the simple speech techniques to use to make sure those messages hit the mark.
Always positive and supportive, The Artemis Partnership help gave me the ability to present confidently and to engage with the client team. The lessons I have learnt through the intense, but incredible enjoyable time working with The Artemis Partnership will be with me for life, and I will be better for it.”
Dr Tara Kazi C.ErgHF MIEHF PhD MSc BSc Hons, Principal Consultant, (Mott MacDonald London)
“The Artemis Partnership provided an invaluable service in helping the Metron team prepare and deliver a successful presentation to the client. They provided great insights into how to deliver a good presentation and user-friendly communication tips that would be useful practices beyond the presentation itself.
The Artemis Partnership helped expedite team bonding and maximised our potential in the short-time scales that we were working to. They skilfully managed a wide range of personalities to ensure we remained on point and target, to ultimately deliver a strong message that resonated with the client.”
Stephen Taylor, Sydney City Executive and Pursuit Leader, (Arcadis Sydney)
“The Artemis Partnership was instrumental in assisting our international team in coming to a clear and agreed win strategy for a project with the potential to transform a city. The messaging and winning skills were expected but the collaborative and team building inputs took us on a surprisingly enjoyable journey!”
